Chelsea remain hopeful a deal for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly can be sealed before the new Premier League season kicks off, according to Sky Sports’ Jim White.
The Blues have been heavily aligned with the Senegalese centre-back for much of the past few months, with talk of him moving away from Naples having been fuelled by his agent’s admission that the 6ft. 5” ace want to “leave” the Stadio San Paolo.
Further to this reports have suggested that Chelsea have bid £38m for the African ace, and although there’s been little movement in terms of news on the player’s situation, White – a well-known figure at Sky Sports – has taken to Twitter to shed some light on the situation.
He tweeted: “Chelsea still hopeful of signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly before Premier League kicks off – Italian club holding out for £50m.”

White’s claims that they’re hopeful of a deal going through before the Premier League kicks off suggest that an agreement will need to be reached within the coming 24 hours, even though the Londoners’ first game is scheduled for Monday night against West Ham.
