Chelsea have suffered a massive set-back in their pursuit of Brazilian star Douglas Costa, with the Shakhtar Donetsk ace having revealed that he’s tempted by a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues are believed to have chased the playmaker over January and have since lined him up for a move this summer as Stamford Bridge chief Jose Mourinho plots to further strengthen the champions elect’s squad.
Costa – namesake of current Stamford Bridge hero, Diego – has long been considered to be one of Ukrainian football’s top talents, with his skilful dribbling and neat skills a big weapon in Shakhtar’s armoury.
Although Chelsea are keen, they may be set for disappointment, with the 24-year-old having opened the door for a switch to PSG:
“I like PSG a lot.” He is quoted by Metro. “They have become an enormous club and it would be a pleasure to wear that shirt.”
Costa is a versatile attacking midfielder who is able to play on either flank and has been capped twice at senior international level by Brazil.
