Chelsea issue hands-off warning for defender

Chelsea defender David LuizChelsea are not willing to allow David Luiz to leave this summer, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The Brazilian has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain over the course of the past few weeks, with the trio all said to be willing to spend big for his signature.

However, despite claims that new chief Jose Mourinho may entertain attractive offers for the 26-year-old, reports now suggest that the Londoners will remain dogged in their attempts to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

The shaggy-haired centre-back has often been criticised for his over-eager playing style, but the Blues are said to be desperate to keep him and see him as a vital part of their Premier League plans going forward.

After demonstrating his ability to play in a defensive midfield role at the back end of last season, ‘The Special One’ is happy for him to stay as he looks to stamp his own style on his inherited squad.

Luiz is set to return to Chelsea from international duty soon, where he helped Brazil secure Confederations Cup victory.

The ex-Benfica man only signed a new contract at the club 10 months ago, and is believed to be perfectly happy.

Chelsea fans, is it a relief to hear that David Luiz will be staying?
