The Spaniard has been highlighted as one of the top emerging talents in his homeland after a series of impressive displays for Atletico’s ‘B’ team.
The Madrid-based side have recently tied him down to a long-term contract, but Jose Mourinho is still hopeful that he can strike a deal for the 18-year-old.
‘The Special One’ is said to be keen to draft in a new generation of talent at Stamford Bridge and has set about finding promising players from across the continent.
A January offer is a possibility, but it is likely that Mourinho will have to wait until next summer before making a serious move for the youngster.
The starlet shares his name with current Chelsea forward Fernando Torres – whoa also came through the ranks with Atletico.
The midfielder has made eight first-team appearances for the club and has three Spanish U-21 caps to his name.
Chelsea signed a number of young players over the summer, including Christian Atsu and Marco van Ginkel.
The former is currently on loan with Vitesse Arnhem, while the latter is expected to miss the majority of the season through injury.
