Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is adamant that the Blues want to keep young midfielder at Stamford Bridge despite interest from clubs around Europe.

Romeu has only made a handful of appearances so far this season for Chelsea as competition for places in the heart of their midfield is as fierce as ever.

However, with key players leaving for the African Cup of Nations in January and the number of games increasing from Christmas onwards, a big squad is necessary for a club to be challenging in multiple competitions.

"Romeu is a very young talent with good prospects for the future," Di Matteo told Sky Sports.

"He has offers from other clubs and especially from Spain but I have had calls from Italy as well.

"But he has been playing a bit more lately and he will be playing more in the future. There is absolutely no chance of him leaving in January."
