Chelsea keeper denies Real talk

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid, reports the Metro.

The Belgian, who is enjoying his third season on loan at Atletico Madrid, has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu after repeated strong performances. Atletico have conceded the fewest amount of goals in La Liga this season, as they sit above Barcelona and neighbours Real at the top of the table.

But Courtois has been quick to rule out a move to Atletico rivals Real Madrid, but did hint that he might like to stay in Spain: “The talk about Real Madrid is only rumours, it is not true. The one thing I have always said is that it’s Atletico or Chelsea,” he said.

“I’m very happy to be with Atleti, my desire is to play and if I can’t do that at Chelsea and I can continue here, I’ll be very happy. I’ve never spoken with Mourinho. At the moment Chelsea cannot guarantee me a place in goal because [Petr] Cech is there, he is playing well and is one of the best keepers in the world.”

Courtois is tipped to have a strong World Cup with a young Belgium side, with many pundits calling for him to replace Cech as Chelsea number one.
