Chelsea make Juventus midfield general top target

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will make Juventus’ Paul Pogba his top transfer target once a deal for Diego Costa has been sealed, according to reports from Goal.

The Blues are believed to be on the verge of snapping up the Atletico Madrid forward, whom they have been heavily linked with over the course of the past few months.

Once the Spanish international is through the door at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho will turn his attention to his next area of concern, central midfield.

With David Luiz set to leave for PSG, ‘The Special One’ is concerned that he will have a lack of cover in front of his backline, with the Brazilian defender having often been used in a slightly more advanced role.

Pogba is seen as the ideal man to overhaul the club’s engine room, and it is understood that Mourinho is willing to put the £50m he will get for selling his big-haired South American towards a deal.

Juve are said to be desperate to keep the former Manchester United trainee, yet offers of around £60m may prove too good to turn down for the player they snapped up on a free from Old Trafford.

Mourinho sees the 21-year-old Frenchman as the ideal partner for Nemanja Matic as he sets about building a Chelsea side capable of European and domestic dominance.
