Frank Lampard, Chelsea FC’s manager and former player, is more than interested in obtaining new players for his squad in the January transfer window. The club suffered a transfer ban and had its hands tied last time, which means they are very eager to bring some fresh players.

Lampard is quite clear on what and whom he wants, which is why he’s made a shortlist that contains a total of six players he would like to see in his club in 2020. Lampard is quite interested in possible attacking options, although their defence wasn’t that great at the start of the season — they managed to concede a total of 25 goals during 17 Premier League games.

Being currently in fourth place in the PL, Chelsea are doing pretty well, although their chances of actually winning the title are rather slim. Many sportsbooks such as Sportsbet.io are certain that Liverpool are going to be the one to claim the trophy as the club has had a stellar season so far.

However, Lampard hopes the Blues can at least improve their position in the table and are now seriously considering finding a suitable attacker for the team. Ever since they sold the amazing Belgian player Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, Lampard has been on the lookout for a suitable replacement and is more determined than ever to find it in the January transfer window.

A good thing about Chelsea FC is that they have had a substantial budget ever since they got acquired by Roman Abramovich. This year is no exception to the rule as Lampard has a total of £150 million to spend in order to bring new players to Stamford Bridge.

The Telegraph published an article discussing the shortlist made by Frank Lampard, and it includes the following players:

  • Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)
  • Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
  • Leon Bailey (Bayer Leverkusen)
  • Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal)

How Likely Are These Transfers?

The winger of Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho, has expressed a wish to return to the Island and the Blues are closely monitoring what’s happening at the German club.

On the other hand, Zaha was pretty clear in his statement that he is looking for a way to leave Crystal Palace. However, he recently signed a long-term contract with the club and the Eagles don’t have any kind of financial pressure to sell him, meaning Lampard would have to spend quite a lot of money on the striker. According to some sources, he might have to spend as much as £80 million for the talented player.

Leon Bailey is a young player and a rising star in Bayer Leverkusen. He only appeared 12 times for the club and managed to score four goals and have one assist. However, his talent is not unnoticed, meaning he could also be quite pricey, coming at a price of approximately €50 million, which is £42.5 million.

Finally, Lampard is also considering the 20-year-old Chukwueze who has been playing for Villarreal. The talented Nigerian player already scored three goals and had two assists in La Liga. On top of that, he appeared 12 times for his national team of Nigeria.

As previously mentioned, there were a total of six players on Lampard’s list. The remaining two are Timo Werner who currently plays for Red Bull Leipzig and Moussa Dembele, the forward for Lyon. Both of these players have displayed some extraordinary skills worthy of the Blues.

All we have to do now is wait for the January transfer window to begin and see what Lampard has in store for us.
