Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is blocking starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s request at leaving the club in January, according to reports from the Express.
Loftus-Cheek was earmarked by Mourinho last season as a player that will feature heavily this term, but so far the midfielder has only managed to make two Premier League appearances coming from the bench.
The Blues miserable title-defending campaign seems to be playing a big part in Mourinho’s reluctance to use the 19-year-old, and Loftus-Cheek is hoping to find regular playing time elsewhere.
However, it seems that Mourinho is unwilling to let Loftus-Cheek depart anytime soon, with the Portuguese insisting that the youngster must learn from the club’s more experienced stars.
The Blues boss said: “He is one I am not interested in letting go on loan, I want to keep him because he needs to improve a lot.
“And I think the best way for him to improve is to be working with us every day, even if he doesn’t play much.
“In this moment he is far from being in conditions to play for us.”
Loftus-Cheek made his Chelsea debut in a Champions League group stage game against Sporting Lisbon last season.
