Chelsea man’s loan nightmare close to ending

AC Milan are actively exploring ways to get rid of Chelsea loanee Fernando Torres this January, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The 30-year-old Spaniard signed a two-year loan deal with the Serie A side over the summer, but his ten games – in which he’s completed a full 90 minutes once and netted a single goal – have convinced the Rossoneri that he’s not the right player for them.

Manager Filippo Inzaghi is understood to have met with Milan officials to discuss the situation, with shipping ‘El Nino’ out his rumoured desire.

Chelsea are unwilling to bring the £50m flop back to London – the loan deal was designed to run down the remaining time on his contract – but they may be forced to do so should the Italians opt to terminate.

Milan may look to use Torres in a swap deal for Atletico Madrid’s Alessio Cerci, who has endured a tough time at the Vicente Calderon since his own summer switch.

A possible deal would see the Chelsea forward return to the club he captained in his younger years.

Liverpool have also been linked with a shock loan swoop to bring back their former hero.
