There’s been plenty of transfer speculation regarding the German international recently; with his £20million release clause set to come into effect during the summer and a revised contract now ruled out, it’s believed a plethora of clubs throughout Europe are planning to test the Westfalen outfit’s resolve in January with slightly more lucrative offers.
Mourinho has recently denied his interest however, telling reporters; “We don’t want Marco Reus. The market is closed and the player belongs to Borussia. We have top players in this position.”
Some took the news with a pinch of salt, considering Reus has won two Bundesliga Player of the Year awards over the last three seasons and his alleged £25million January price-tag strikes excellent value for money.
But the Stamford Bridge boss has now made clear that he won’t be making moves for any new recruits in January, including Reus. He informed the press yesterday; “Hopefully we are the same for January. That, for me, is the perfect situation. I don’t want people to leave. I dont’ want people to come in.
“We started our project this way, and I’d like to go until the end. If other teams do it in January, good for them. No problem for me. Hopefully everything goes okay and we have no emergency needs for January.”
