According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have been scouting PSV Eindhoven’s exciting winger Hirving Lozano, and their Premier League rivals Chelsea must consider hijacking any potential move.
The 33-cap Mexico international has been in prolific form for the Eredivisie outfit so far this season and already has seven strikes to his name in just ten outings.
The 23-year-old came to the attention of football fans all over the world this summer when he produced a scintillating performance and scored a fine goal in Mexico’s shock victory over then-reigning World Cup champions Germany at this year’s tournament in Russia.
As per the aforementioned Mirror report, Lozano attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest club sides, such as Barcelona, during the summer. For the time being, Lozano remains in Holland. However, his future must surely lie at a higher level of the game than the Dutch domestic system can offer.
Lozano has all the attributes needed to be successful in the Premier League. Before Spurs get the chance to capitalise upon their apparent interest in the explosive attacker, Chelsea would be wise to tempt the Mexican to London for themselves.
With Pedro and Willian both ageing, the Blues will soon need a new winger to ease the creative and goalscoring burden currently on Eden Hazard. Lozano is the ideal candidate to serve as both a first-team starter and rotation option to the brilliant Belgian given his ability to play on either flank.
What’s more, the PSV man also boasts enough positional versatility so as to allow him to line up alongside Hazard.
Signing Lozano would add great depth and quality to the squad in place at Stamford Bridge and would also be a positive step forwards in Maurizio Sarri’s rebuild of the team.
