New signing N’Golo Kante made his Blues debut against AC Milan on Thursday, taking the number of players used in pre-season to a whopping 29.
And the new Stamford Bridge boss has already admitted that his squad will have to be trimmed down in time for the new season.
As quoted by London Evening Standard, he told reporters after the 2-1 win over the San Siro outfit; “We have 30 players and four goalkeepers. Now we have one game against Werder Bremen (on Sunday) and then we must take a decision – and I hope to take the best decision for the club.
“My ideas are very clear now, but first I must talk about these ideas with the club. It is normal when we go back to London that I will talk with the club. We will talk about these two weeks and what I have learned and I will also speak to all the players.
And the capital-based publication claim there are currently five Chelsea stars with their futures in serious doubt.
Oscar has struggled to live up to the heights expected since signing from Internacional in summer 2012 and is being targeted by Inter Milan, whilst AC Milan have Juan Cuadrado in their sights.
Likewise, goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and striker Loic Remy could depart, whilst Pedro’s status remains uncertain after being left out of Thursday’s friendly.
