The 21-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough season in the Championship with Middlesbrough, netting 19 goals in all competitions – including an FA Cup effort at Manchester City.
Although there have been links with loan moves away from Stamford Bridge again next season – Aston Villa are keen – Chelsea see him as a future star and are keen to ensure his long-term career is with them, not a rival.
As a result they’ve offered Bamford a new five-year contract, which they’re hopeful he’ll sign before his current deal enters its final year.
Although there no indications that the player will definitely put pen to paper, he confessed in a recent interview that his aim is to become a first-team star at Chelsea.
Bamford is expected to represent England’s U-21 side at the European Championships this summer.
