Chelsea are eyeing a big money deal for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva, according to Italian news outlet TMV.
The Brazilian defender is widely regarded as one of the best central options in world football and was named in the FIFPro Team of the Year in 2015.
It was the third year in a row the 31-year old has been named in the prestigious line up.
Defensive issues have dogged the Premier League champions all season, with John Terry and Gary Cahill coming under fire.
He has emerged as a stalwart in the French capital following his move from AC Milan in 2012, though reports suggest the Blues have enquired about his price tag.
Chelsea will be well aware of his talents, having scored late on to knock the club out of last season’s Champions League quarter-finals.
The Selecao star has previously been linked with Barcelona, though has expressed his desire to remain with the Ligue 1 champions.
‘I want to end my career here’, revealed Silva.
‘This is the city that I love, like Rio de Janeiro. I live with my family, my son grows up here.’
