Chelsea owner confident top managerial target gettable after shock development

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is confident that Atletico Madrid’s shock two-window transfer ban will help him lure Diego Simeone to Stamford Bridge, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Spanish giants, alongside Real Madrid, have been hit heavily by FIFA for breaching rules regarding signing youth players and are facing two windows (after the current one has closed) in which they’ll be unable to register new signings.

And reports claim that Abramovich has interpreted this news as a boost, with Simeone his top target to replace interim chief Guus Hiddink.

It’s understood that the Russian oligarch is hopeful the chance to join Chelsea and have the ability to build his own team will appeal to the Argentine, who is currently facing the prospect of heading into mid-2017 with only his current players to work with in Madrid.

Chelsea have endured a tough season as reigning Premier League champions, with poor results having left them in the bottom half of the table after 21 games and cost Jose Mourinho his job.
