On this day in 2003, Joe Cole joined Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and the rest, as they say, is history.
And what history the now 37-year-old midfielder has with the Blues.
He was at Chelsea from 2003 all the way to 2010, when he made his transfer to Liverpool of all places. But that didn’t really last and as early as next year, he moved once again.
This, in turn, started a series of transfers almost on a yearly basis. It is quite safe to say that no place felt like home as much as Stamford Bridge did, and the feeling is very much mutual.
At least if Chelsea’s latest Twitter post is anything to go by.
The Blues paid tribute to their former midfielder with a brilliant throwback video on social media, celebrating the day he first signed for the club.

During his spell at Chelsea, Cole managed to accumulate 281 appearances, scoring 40 goals and tallying a further 42 assists to his name.
He was also an incredibly versatile player, often operating in a multitude of positions and also, as we’ve seen above, changing a multitude of clubs along the way.
