Chelsea are planning to offload Mohamed Salah and Andre Schurrle this month in an attempt to raise enough funds to sign Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, according to the Independent.
Both Salah and Schurrle were left out of Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle last weekend, but Jose Mourinho is hoping to recoup what Chelsea paid for the two midfielders.
Salah signed for £11million from Basel just a year ago, while Schurrle arrived in an £18m switch from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.
Mourinho wants to reinvest the cash raised from the sale of the two midfielders on France international Varane, who was a regular under the Portuguese when he was in charge at the Bernabeu.
Mourinho is hoping to add to his defensive options at Chelsea and he believes Varane would provide healthy competition for the likes of John Terry, Garry Cahil and Kurt Zouma.
Meanwhile, Chelsea teenager Islam Feruz is in talks with Championship strugglers Blackpool over a possible loan move after an initial switch to Cardiff fell through.
