Patrick Bamford’s loan spell at Crystal Palace could be cut short by Chelsea, according to ESPN.
The England U21 international was expected to continue his development in the Premier League this season, after impressing during loan spells in the Championship with Derby County and Middlesbrough over the last two seasons.
But Palace manager Alan Pardew hasn’t given Bamford the playing time Chelsea were hoping for, and the Blues are now looking to recall the striker in January and instead send him to a club willing to play him regularly.
The striker has started just one game for Palace this season, which was Capital One Cup games, and has made only three other appearances off the bench.
There is bound to be increased interest in taking Bamford on loan in January should Chelsea move to recall him from Palace, with last season’s Championship Player of the Year still one of the hottest prospects in English football.
