Chelsea plot summer Bundesliga swoop

Chelsea are considering an end of season move for Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, according to reports from BILD.

The Blues were linked with the Swiss international last month, but deals for Kurt Zouma, Mohamed Salah and Namanja Matic, as well as Juan Mata’s exit, took preference during a busy month in West London.

However, Jose Mourinho is still said to be keen on the defender.

With Ashley Cole set to leave Stamford Bridge in six months’ time, Chelsea are thought to be keen to draft in a new left-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta – a right-sided player – currently filling the role.

Rodriguez’s impressive displays in Germany are believed to have been enough to convince ‘The Special One’ that he is indeed the right player to snap up.

The 21-year-old only arrived at Wolfsburg in 2012, but may be open to a switch to Chelsea in a bid to move his career to the next step.

A £10m offer is believed to be on the cards, and Mourinho may be keen to snap up his man before the World Cup starts to avoid other sides entering the battle.
