Chelsea plot swoop for Argentine ace

Nicolas Otamendi (Porto)Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Porto defender Nicolas Otamendi, according to reports from TuttoMercato.

The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentine for some time, with some rumours suggesting that Jose Mourinho has earmarked him for a January or summer swoop.

Blues scouts are said to have been in attendance for the Portuguese champions’ weekend clash with Nacional, and were believed to have been tasked with keeping a close eye on Otamendi.

‘The Special One’ is thought to be looking for a long-term successor for John Terry, and could opt to move for the 25-year-old.

Porto are believed to be keen to keep him at the Estadio do Dragao, but are known to have a reputation for selling talented players to some of Europe’s biggest clubs for huge fees.

It is also believed that representatives from Barcelona were also in attendance for the recent tie, with the Catalan giants also monitoring Otamendi.

As well as the centre-back, the likes of Jackson Martinez and Eliaquim Mangala are also on the radars of the two clubs.

Mourinho is believed to be a fan of both players, and could attempt to secure a deal for either in January.
