Jose Mourinho is willing to keep Atletico Madrid waiting on their offer to swap Toby Alderweireld for Filipe Luis, the Telegraph reports.
Atletico made the offer to re-sign the left back from Stamford Bridge in return for Alderweireld some weeks ago, but Mourinho has defenders higher on his list of priorities so is keeping the Spanish club in limbo.
Mourinho is keen to bolster his defensive ranks, but he is unsure whether the Atletico man is the right option to improve the Premier League champions.
Chelsea must decide whether they want the Atletico defender over their long term defensive targets; Raphael Varane of Real Madrid and Everton’s John Stones.
Luis has only made 15 appearances since his move from Madrid last year and has struggled to find a regular first team spot at Stamford Bridge.
Alderweireld spent last year on loan at Southampton, making 25 appearances for the St Mary’s outfit.
