Chelsea prodigy set for loan stint abroad in January

According to Turkish newspaper Amkspor, Chelsea’s defensive prodigy Kurt Zouma is in line for a loan move to Super Lig side Besiktas in January.

The Blues signed the highly-rated centre-back last January and since moving to Stamford Bridge this summer, after spending the remainder of the 2013/14 campaign on loan at former club St. Etienne, has gone on to register eight appearances across all competitions for the Premier League leaders.

But according to the Turkish press, as reported by The Daily Star, Besiktas have ‘agreed a deal in principle’ to take on the towering 20 year-old for the rest of the season, where he’ll team-up with former Blues striker Demba Ba.

Gus Poyet, another former Chelsea man, wanted to add Zouma to his Sunderland squad during the summer however, and may be tempted to revive his interest following news that the Stamford Bridge outfit are prepared to let the youngster leave on loan.

Meanwhile, the reports only add further weight to the theory that Chelsea could buy another centre-back in January, being already light in that department. Barcelona’s Gerard Pique, Atletico Madrid’s Miranda and Raphael Varane of Real Madrid, who Jose Mourinho once described as ‘the best young defender in the world‘ have all been linked with the west Londoners this season.
