Chelsea are looking to cut Andreas Christensen’s two-year loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach short this summer and are willing to ship Nathan Ake off to the German club to push through a deal, according to reports from Bild.
The Blues sanctioned the 24-month arrangement for their 19-year-old Danish centre-back last year during Jose Mourinho’s reign as the player’s route into the first-team appeared blocked.
However, Christensen has impressed to such a degree in Bundesliga action that he’s swayed opinion back in London, and with John Terry potentially on his way out of the club and Antonio Conte likely to head in, the teenager could have a future.
And reports claim that Chelsea are now looking to cut the two-year deal at its halfway point.
But to persuade Gladbach to agree, they will have to offer them some form of compensation, with Ake mooted as a like-for-like replacement.
The Dutchman is currently on loan at Watford and is due to return to Stamford Bridge in a few months’ time.
It remains unclear as to whether the 21-year-old would make a temporary or permanent move to Borussia-Park.
Conte is thought to be keen on Christensen.
