Chelsea ready to address major concern with move for 200-goal star

Chelsea are desperate to save their season with a January move for Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports from Metro.

The Blues have endured a woeful start to the defence of the Premier League title, slipping to defeat on seven occasions in just 12 games.

Although rearguard frailties have been a major factor, Jose Mourinho’s side have struggled to put the ball in the net at the other end of the pitch, with their tally of 16 goals lower than any side currently in the top seven places.

And reports from Metro, citing Fichajes, claim that the club are eager to react with a move for Napoli’s Higuain.

The Argentine scored the 200th goal of his career against Udinese prior to the international break and is known to be a clinical finisher.

Mourinho worked with the 27-year-old while at Real Madrid, which could ease a move.

Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have scored a combined three league goals this term.
