Chelsea ready to axe duo this summer

Chelsea are plotting to let John Terry and Ashley Cole go at the end of the season, but Frank Lampard could be set for a new contract, according to reports from The Mirror.

Jose Mourinho has turned to some of his experienced stars since his return to the club, but he is rumoured to be willing to be ruthless in the summer.

The ageing trio’s futures are all the subject of debate in West London as it stands, and it is understood that Chelsea will not keep all three.

Lampard looks to be the one who may stay, which could open the door for Terry and Cole to leave.

The defensive duo are both currently key member of the Blues’ back line, but ‘The Special One’ is willing to let them move to free up space for new arrivals.

Cole has been an infrequent starter this term, and could be the first out of the door.

Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with a shock swoop for the left-back, but it remains unclear as to whether or not he will stay in England or move abroad.

Meanwhile Terry has been heavily linked with a big money move to either the MLS or Galatasaray, with Kurt Zouma’s scheduled summer arrival plunging his future further into doubt.
