Chelsea ready to cash in

David Luiz (Chelsea)Chelsea are considering allowing David Luiz to leave the club in January, with Barcelona interested, according to reports from The Express.

The 26-year-old defender was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge over the summer, with the Spaniards believed to have been willing to spend big to secure his signature.

But, Jose Mourinho elected to keep the Brazilian at the club upon his return.

However, ‘The Special One’ is thought to have grown frustrated with Luiz’s performances, and is now ready to cut him loose.

The South American’s unorthodox playing style is said to not be in line with Mourinho’s vision, with his mistakes having been costly on some occasions this season.

Barca are reportedly desperate to bolster their defensive options, with star duo Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique having suffered from fitness issues.

Luiz is seen as player who could fit their playing style, with his technical abilities thought to have caught manager Tata Martino’s eye.

The Catalans were linked with a £30m+ offer during the last window, but are likely to lower bid if Chelsea are indeed willing to sell.

However, the bug-haired defender is still likely to command a vast transfer fee.

Should Chelsea sell David Luiz? Or does he still have something to offer?
