Chelsea ready to pay £35.1m to finally push through long-term target deal

Chelsea are plotting a £35.1m January offer for Everton’s John Stones after missing out on the defender during the summer, according to reports from BuzzSport.

The Blues openly chased the England international for much of the last window, but despite several offers worth around £30m having been sent to the Toffees, they failed to lure him from Goodison Park.

And the inability to land Stones appears to have hit hard in west London, with Jose Mourinho’s side having shipped a staggering 23 goals in 14 games leaving them close to the relegation zone, while the man they got instead, Papy Djilobodji, has managed just a minute of action.

Reports now claim that Chelsea will go back for the 21-year-old, with a £35.1m offer on the agenda.

It remains to be seen if Everton will accept such a bid, but with Stones having submitted a transfer request during the last episode of this saga, he could be open to a deal.
