Last night was the spookiest occasion on the calendar, as Halloween brought all the ghosts and ghouls out to play – and Stamford Bridge was the venue for one huge fright for Chelsea fans.
Rolling back the years to one night in 2005, Chelsea used the occasions to recall Luis Garcia’s infamous ‘ghost goal’ in a Champions League semi-final clash – the Spaniard’s goal put the Reds, led by Rafael Benitez, into the final.
The Merseysiders eventually emerging victorious and lifted Europe’s most prestigious trophy for the fifth time, Chelsea fans have never forgotten the incident and the debate continues to revolve around the situation – with the age old question being, did it really cross the line?
The two minute video was an instant hit on social media and quickly went viral, though Chelsea fans maybe should have moved past it as they achieved their ultimate goal in 2012 when they emerged victorious over Bayern Munich.
