Chelsea are interested in signing Valencia’s Jose Gaya, according to Soccer Link.
The Blues may be unable to bring in new players until next year, but that hasn’t stopped them planning ahead for the summer of 2020, when they will be able to add to their squad.
Soccer Link reports that Gaya is of serious interest to the south-west London side’s hierarchy.
The Spain international made 49 appearances for the Liga outfit last season.

As it stands, Frank Lampard has two left-backs at his disposal, and there has been one clear winner in the battle to be in the side’s starting XI.
Due to the Italy international’s stellar form, Marcos Alonso has had to make do with a place on the bench and just one minute on the pitch. After being the first-choice for Maurizio Sarri last year, it will no doubt be a blow to be spending so much time away from the action.
Lampard appears to be concentrating on quick attacking – his side have scored six goals and averaged 17 shots per game this term – and this requires pace from his full-backs, one thing the former Bolton and Sunderland man has never possessed.
In this aspect, Gaya is clearly ahead of the 28-year-old. With the latter approaching 30, a younger option as competition for Emerson makes sense and leaves no place for Alonso in the squad.
As such, his career at Chelsea could be coming to an end, and Gaya would be a welcome replacement. Blues supporters will even be able to see him in action in the near future as they face his current employers in the group stage of this year’s Champions League.
Only time will tell whether he will make the switch to London.
