Chelsea sanction first exit of January cull

Chelsea have sanctioned a deal to see young midfielder Ulises Davila leave the club, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The promising young Mexican star signed for the Blues back in 2011, though failed to appear in a single Premier League game during his time on the payroll.

A Mexican youth star, he has appeared for the national team at both Under-20 and Under-23 level and was called up to the senior side ahead of the 2011 Copa America.

He became the first Mexican player to sign with Chelsea when he arrived from Guadalajara in 2011 but was ultimately farmed out on loan during his time there.

Plying his trade for the likes of Vitesse, Sabadell, Cordoba and Vitoria, Davila was unable to truly impose himself on first-team proceedings at Stamford Bridge.

He will now return to his homeland and join up with Santos Laguna, who have announced his signing on a three-year deal.
