Chelsea have been boosted by the news key defenders Gary Cahill and Ashley Cole are closing on a return to action.
Cahill was forced to undergo surgery on his knee after picking up the injury during the victory over West Ham last month but Benitez is hopeful he will soon be back in action.
Cole should also return sooner rather than later following a hamstring injury but both players are likely to miss the Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan and the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City.
“The feeling from both is really good,” Benitez said. “He (Cahill) had an operation. We did it very quickly on the Saturday of the Southampton game (March 30).”
Cole suffered a hamstring injury in the Easter Monday win over Manchester United, two days after the Southampton defeat in the Premier League, but it is not serious and a return is on the cards.
