Chelsea should make a move for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner either in January or at the end of the season to bolster the team's options up front.

What's the word?

Given that the Blues are unbeaten in the Premier League suggests that they are not in desperate need of improving their team.

However, most of the goals scored have not come from their two strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

Eden Hazard is the club's leading scorer on seven in all competitions, while Pedro is next in line with three.

Morata has one goal to his name, while Giroud is yet to find the back of the net for the Blues.

With that in mind, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri should be considering potential transfer options, and Werner needs to be one of them.

Why him?

The Germany international is only 22 years of age, but he has made an impact at the elite stage already.

Since moving to Leipzig in 2016 from Stuttgart, the attacker has gone on to score 44 goals and bag 19 assists in 85 outings in all competitions.

This season, Werner, who won the Confederations Cup with Germany in 2017, has netted twice in eight appearances.

At the moment it seems that Chelsea are relying on Hazard to save them in front of goal, but if Werner joined the squad the the goal burden would be shared.

On top of that, the young attacker can play on either wing, so he would provide another option to Sarri if needs be.
