Manchester United are preparing to offer Chelsea £60m for Willian, according to the Daily Mail.

What's the story, then?

The Mail report that Jose Mourinho has been seeking a reunion with his former winger since January and is ready to ramp up his attempts to sign the 29-year-old Brazilian with a £60m bid.

It goes on to say that the Blues were reluctant to sell in the mid-season window, during which United did manage to sign one South American winger from a London club, in Alexis Sanchez.

It also states that despite the fact that Willian has just two years left on his Stamford Bridge deal, £60m is the valuation United will fork out to bring him to Old Trafford.

Lozano would be an ideal replacement

Lozano, valued at just £22.5m by Transfermarkt, was absolutely outstanding as his native Mexico produced the shock of the World Cup so far to see of holders Germany at the weekend, showcasing the counter-attacking ability Willian has made his trademark in West London.

The PSV winger is the future while the ageing Willian represents the past and if the Blues can offload the Brazilian and secure Lozano for a cheaper price, then that would be strong business in a summer where they have a great deal of work to do in order to claw their way back into the top four.
