Chelsea skipper could play up front for Liverpool…

Strikers are paid to score goals. That’s their main objective, and that’s why they, typically, command the big bucks, as the role they have is the most important on the pitch… after all, you cannot win a game unless you plop the ball in the opposition’s onion bag.

So the stats below are slightly surprising, as Chelsea skipper John Terry – an old-fashioned centre-back – is actually much more effective in the box than any of Liverpool’s orthodox forwards… Wow! We’ve left Raheem Sterling out of this as he’s… well… not a striker, with the injury woes of Daniel Sturridge allied to Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert’s waywardness up top having forced Brendan Rodgers to throw his skills at the issue.

As the numbers show, Terry has netted more Premier League goals than the quartet of Reds marksmen, while registering fewer shots at goal. If he weren’t on the verge of a new contract at Chelsea, perhaps he could have been the answer to the Merseysiders’ issues…
