N'Golo Kante has told L'Equipe "he feels good" at Chelsea, and this was the reason behind him extending his contract at Stamford Bridge.

What did he say?

The France international has now joined up with Les Bleus for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Albania and Moldova following his first appearance for the Blues - against Crystal Palace - since the previous international break.

He has done an in-depth interview with the French outlet, and his contract extension last year came up in the conversation. Asked if the peace he feels in SW6 played a role, he explained: "It is also for this reason.

"I feel good in the city but especially at the club: they enrolled me into a great project when I arrived.

"It has been three years than I am here, I am doing great things and that is what made me join an even longer project."

The best news

There have been plenty of rumours surrounding the 28-year-old over the last 18 months or so. PSG are said to have been interested in the former Leicester City star, whilst more recently, both Real Madrid and Juventus have been linked with the midfielder.

It was big news for the club when Kante signed that aforementioned contract last year. Unless Chelsea decide to sell - which seems unlikely in itself - he will be with the club until 2023. That equates to another four years, by which time he will be 32 years of age.

These comments are the best news the club and their fans could have hoped for. They indicate that the player who moved to south-west London in 2016 for £30m has no plans or desire to depart in the near future, and that he is perfectly settled with the team.

A lot of the focus and discourse surrounding Chelsea this season has been in regards to the likes of Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham, who have both impressed.

The former has scored four goals, whilst the latter is the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League after Jamie Vardy with 10. Kante, though, is one of the best midfielders in the world. He has been unable to play as much as usual this term due to injuries, but he has still starred when he has been available, scoring two goals already in the Premier League.

The senior players have a huge role to play this term, and such is his undoubted world-class quality, perhaps the £90m-valued man - as per Transfermarkt - will have the biggest impact of all. These comments, therefore, should be music to the ears of all involved at Stamford Bridge.
