Chelsea star on Barcelona radar

Chelsea's Juan MataBarcelona are planning to take advantage of a rumoured dispute between Juan Mata and Jose Mourinho to complete a shock move for the Chelsea playmaker, according to reports from The Mirror.

Despite the ‘Special One’ insisting that he has not spoken to any of his players who are away on Confederations Cup duty, speculation suggests that the Portuguese coach sees the attacking midfielder as expendable.

This is further backed up by whispers of Mata being denied a pay-rise by the former Real coach.

After hitting 19 goals last term, the 25-year-old was thought to be in line for a wage boost, but Mourinho has moved to block the action.

This has alerted Barca, who are believed to be long-term admirers of the ex-Valencia player.

They will look to take advantage of any rift by offering £30m for the Spanish international, a figure that Mourinho may be attracted to as he looks to invest heavily in other areas of his squad.

Barca are set for a radical overhaul of their squad in the coming months, and will put funds gathered from the sales of players such as Alexis Sanchez and David Villa towards a raid for Mata.

The Chelsea star has made no indication that he is seeking a move away from London, but he may be tempted by a return to his homeland, particularly with the 2014 World Cup just around the corner.

Chelsea fans, could you cope without Juan Mata?
