Chelsea star to bide his time over new contract

Ashley Cole is prepared to wait until the end of the season to decide on his Chelsea future, according to the Telegraph.

Cole has struggled for first team football under Jose Mourinho this season, and finds his World Cup place under threat from Southampton’s Luke Shaw.

Cole still believes he is good enough to be a part of England’s World Cup squad, but doubts remain as to whether he will play for Chelsea again this season considering the form of Cesar Azpilicueta.

Failure to do so would likely see Cole miss out on World Cup places to Leighton Baines and Shaw.

Cole signed a one-year extension to his Chelsea contract last season, but is yet to be offered a new deal.

Jose Mourinho has insisted the club are willing to offer Cole a new deal, but the club have also been heavily linked with a £2omillion move for Shaw.

Other than Chelsea, Cole is likely to receive plenty of offers from home and abroad.

But the former Arsenal man may not be interested in a new challenge at this stage of his career, with retirement a final option.
