Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that he is hoping to stay with Atletico Madrid next season.
The Belgian international is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Blues, following his 2011 arrival at the club from Genk.
Upon his signing he was immediately loaned to the Spaniards, for whom he has been impressive ever since.
His consistent displays have led to speculation that the Londoners may recall him ahead of next season to challenge Petr Cech for a starting position.
But, the 21-year-old says that he is happy with Atletico and would like to spend another season in Madrid, so long as Chelsea allow him to do so:
“I am happy, I like my life here, my ¬team-mates. It is not just my decision, Chelsea and Atletico also have to talk.” He is quoted by The Mirror.
“But everyone knows I like it here and, if I can, I want to stay.”
Courtois has become a key player at Atletico Madrid, recently breaking a club record by going 820 minutes without conceding a goal at their home ground.
There has been speculation he could be used as part of a deal for striker Radamel Falcao, but Chelsea are said to be keen to keep hold of their man for the future.
