Petr Cech believes Chelsea can handle playing without their captain John Terry while he is out with injury.

Terry was hurt in an incident with Luis Suarez during Chelsea's Liverpool draw, which ended 1-1. Chelsea feared that their captain could have missed the remainder of the season, but he should now be out for just around two to six weeks.

However, while Cech admits that it is a shame for the team to lose Terry, but that it will give opportunities for others to show quality.

Express.co.uk quoted him as saying: "We managed to play games without John, last season and this. We have players who will have the chance to impress. So I have confidence. It's a pity we will lose him again but we have quality defenders and this is a chance for others to shine. I thought at first that JT had sat on his own leg. But it looked like Suarez landed on the leg, so he was lucky that he was on the floor. If it is in the air and somebody of 60kgs or 70kgs lands on it, it can be very damaging. Let's hope the injury doesn't take him out for too long. I hope we are going to be able to deal with his loss. John knows what it takes to come back in good shape and as soon as possible. He always heals well and I believe he will come back soon."

Roberto Di Matteo has revealed recently that Ashley Cole should return from injury soon.
