Chelsea strike winger deal

Mohamed Salah is on the verge of ending a nightmare 12 months at Chelsea with Roma ready to pay the Blues £750,000 to loan him for the rest of the season ahead of a permanent deal, according to reports from The Express.

The wide-man – once dubbed the ‘Egyptian Lionel Messi‘ – joined the Blues from FC Basel around this time last year after being heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool.

However, despite his reputation and impressive displays with the Swiss side, Salah has been no more than a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho, with the fine showings from Willian and Eden Hazard doing little to help his claims for a role on either flank.

And now reports claim that his spell at Stamford Bridge is all but over, with Roma chiefs thrashing out a deal for the 22-year-old.

It’s understood that £750,000 will be paid up front, with a further £11.2m due should the Rome giants elect to keep him beyond the initial six-month period.
