Chelsea are looking to supply a back-up for Tammy Abraham as they look to secure the services of Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, according to The Sun.

What's the word?

The Blues are currently prohibited from bringing in any players to the club after FIFA banned them for breaking regulations regarding the recruitment of young players.

Meanwhile, Abraham is currently the Premier League's joint-leading goalscorer with eight goals alongside Manchester City's Serio Aguero.

Manager Frank Lampard is keen to bring in a like-for-like back-up striker next summer and The Sun have revealed that the Cherries forward is seen as the ideal candidate to do the job.

Nail in the coffin for Giroud

With Abraham currently in the form of his life and Michy Batshuayi considered to be ahead of Giroud in the pecking order, it could mean the end of the road at Stamford Bridge for the World Cup winner.

The Frenchman made hints that he would leave if he doesn't get more playing time under Lampard, and the manager responded by saying he would happily speak to the former Montpellier man in January if he felt the same after the Christmas period.

The problem that Giroud has is that the trio of Abraham, Batshuayi and Wilson all fit better in Lampard's system because of their pace, which would push him towards the exit door having only started once in the Premier League during the current campaign.

Wilson is proving why Lampard is so interested in his services. He has scored five goals in nine Premier League starts, picking up where he left off last season with 14 goals in 29 starts for the Cherries. The fact that Wilson is only 27 and is much quicker on the ball piles more misery on Giroud's disintegrating future plans at Chelsea.

Lampard has been very clever with the situation and prevented any possibility of a dressing room protest from the player. As the club look to bolster their squad further and provide a suitable reinforcement for the England international, Giroud's stint at the club is effectively over.
