Chelsea were been among the least active Premier League clubs in the transfer market last summer but that was largely due to the transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA.

And to further compound the misery for the club, they lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.

But the departure of the great Belgian was initially a big loss, and still probably is despite their recent success.

According to a report from, Plaza Deportiva, Chelsea are willing to fork out around €70m (£62m) to bring Goncalo Guedes to the blue side of London to replace Hazard.

But does he really warrant such a huge price tag?

His 2018/19 was decent, although hampered by injuries, and he managed to rattle the inside of the net eight times in a total of 34 games across all competitions for Valencia, assisting a further four times in the process.

And it seems that he still hasn't found his footing, at least not entirely, seeing how he has only seven appearances to his name in the current campaign, courtesy of a sprained ankle and some benching by the coach.

His figures are still decent, as the 23-year-old has managed to average 1.5 shots, 2.2 dribbles and one key pass per game in 444 minutes in La Liga, maintaining 79.1% passing accuracy.

Of course, those numbers are slightly inflated by the fact he hasn't featured much in the current season and even though he's young - which fits the current Chelsea blueprint - he doesn't seem like a direct Hazard replacement.

Both Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi, Lampard's young wide men, have had a more successful 2019/20 so far, with the former registering six goals and six assists and the latter two goals and five assists across all competitions.

In hindsight, this transfer targets looks like one to avoid for Chelsea, who could save themselves £62m and put that money towards a superior target.

In other news, many Spurs fans were simply in awe of their star's brilliant piece of skill from the game vs Bournemouth...
