Max Meyer has poured cold water on rumours that he could join Chelsea in January, by insisting that he is perfectly happy at Schalke.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge over the course of the last week, with many reports suggesting that the Blues have already made an approach for his signature.
The teenager has quickly emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s top young talents of late after breaking into Schalke’s first-team this season.
He has registered three goals already from an attacking midfield position, and featured against Chelsea in the clubs’ recent Champions League encounters.
His fine displays have alerted the Londoners, but Mayer says that, despite interest, he is perfectly happy in Gelsenkirchen:
“I am really happy I seem to be so much in demand,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.
“I have read about an interest from Chelsea in the newspapers. But I am feeling great being at Schalke.
“We are in very good negotiations with Schalke and I think we will be able to come up with a result in this before the end of the year.”
Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay £15m for Mayer, but Schalke are keen to keep their latest talent.
Should Chelsea do all they can to land Max Meyer?
