Sat looking pretty at the top of the Premier League standings, Chelsea are one of the only sides in the division that can afford to be pretty relaxed during the January transfer window and it allows more leeway in the transfer market.

With it highly-likely that Chelsea will win the Premier League title this season, Antonio Conte can afford to take a bit of a risk in the transfer market. However, there's taking a punt and then there's going beyond the mark.

Chelsea's interest in Adama Traore, reported by Sky Sports, is certainly a move that raises many questions- with the largest being, why?

As the above numbers show, Adama Traore has down little in his Premier League performances this season to suggest that he would be a success in West London and the figures don't show that he would provide decent competition to the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro.

His blistering pace is an asset but, lacking the cutting edge, it's difficult to see any scenario where Traore would improve Chelsea's ranks and it's a deal the club should definitely avoid.
