Chelsea targeting tough-tackling Man United ace, Mourinho keen to sell

According to reports from Bleacher Report, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has identified Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian as a potential transfer target for the summer.

The 26-year-old was part of the Italy starting Xi that beat Belgium 2-0 yesterday evening and it appears his performances have caught the attention of the Azzurri boss – who will take charge at Stamford Bridge after Euro 2016.

According to Bleacher Report, the former Torino star’s ability to play as a wing-back, a full-back or a central defender fits into Conte’s plans of having a ‘flexible defence’ for next season that can switch between a back three and a back four.

‘Insider’¬†Dean Jones refused to confirm whether Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho would be prepared to do business with the club that sacked him just a matter of months ago.

But recent reports from TuttoSport claim the Portuguese is already looking to cash in on the 23-cap international and The Sun have made similar allegations, suggesting Darmian could be used as a makeweight in a deal to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba.
