Chelsea are set to press ahead with a move for £60m-rated Everton forward Romelu Lukaku after missing out on Alvaro Morata, with his potential arrival set to open the door for Diego Costa to move on, according to reports from The Times.
The Blues, despite having signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille for around £33m, are on the lookout for a new forward, but have thus far been unable to lure in the big name they want.
Morata was believed to be the one manager Antonio Conte wanted, but The Times claim that there is virtually no chance of luring the Spaniard from Real Madrid, leaving Lukaku as the player they will seek.
The Belgian was famously sold by the London club in 2014, and he has since starred for Everton.
It’s understood that Chelsea have been impressed by the burly hit-man, who netted 18 goals, last term in league action, and they are likely to step up their pursuit of him over the coming weeks.
Any move for Lukaku will free up Costa to move on, with the controversial Spaniard wanted by his former club, Atletico Madrid.
