Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is eyeing a January swoop for FC Porto teenage sensation Ruben Neves, according to the Daily Star.
The Portuguese midfielder is a hot property, with a host of elite clubs around the continent linked with making a move in order to secure his services.
Mourinho, who famously won the Champions League with the Portuguese giants, sent scouts to view the player as the side beat Benfica by a single goal.
The 18-year old operates largely as a defensive midfielder, and has drawn comparisons with compatriot Joao Moutinho.
His ability to read the game shows an assurance beyond his young years, and he isn’t afraid to bomb forward when the opportunity arises.
Chelsea will meet Porto in the Champions League later this week, with Neves expected to line up against the Blues.
When signing Nemanja Matic almost two years ago, Chelsea scouts were often spotted at Benfica games before the January transfer – so the West London side have previous in this sort of deal.
