Chelsea to use Champions League as bait for £20m Prem star

Chelsea are ready to trigger a clause in Enner Valencia’s West Ham contract to take him from east to west London, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Ecuadorian only joined the Hammers from Mexican side Pachuca in a £12m deal over the summer, but his impressive displays appear to have alerted the Blues.

Although a key man in the Hammers’ first-team, Chelsea are eyeing a potential deal to land the South American, with a clause in his deal at Upton Park allowing teams in Champions League action to sign him for £20m.

If such a fee is offered before the looming transfer deadline, there is little Sam Allardyce will be able to do to keep his man, although there are suggestions that the club are keen to offer him improved terms to remove the problem from the equation.

However, a sizable fee may tempt West Ham due to the chance to make a quick, and hefty, profit.
