Chelsea to wrap up £11m Brazil striker deal before Arsenal clash

Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of reported Premier League target Alexandre Pato, according to the Daily Express.

The 26-year old Brazilian forward has been linked with a raft of English clubs this month, though the Blues are reported to have made the first real move in order to secure him.

Fitness doubts of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao are said to have speeded the deal up as the Blues prepare for a crunch clash with London rivals Arsenal.

The Independent even claims an £11m deal could be concluded in time for the former Selecao international to make his debut against the Gunners this Sunday.

While with AC Milan, Pato was widely considered to be one of the hottest properties in world football though a series of injuries stalled his career progress.

Now with Corinthians in his homeland, he notched 26 goals while on loan with Sao Paolo last season, going some way into restoring his flagging reputation in the game.
